T\u00e4m\u00e4n sopimuksen allekirjoituksen j\u00e4lkeen Saksa, joka oli itse suurissa vaikeuksissa Normandian maihinnousun ja Valko-Ven\u00e4j\u00e4ll\u00e4 meneill\u00e4\u00e4n olevan ja suurtappioksi heti muodostuneen taistelun johdosta, antoi Suomelle hyvin huomattavaa aseapua ja l\u00e4hetti Suomen tueksi my\u00f6s joukkoja. N\u00e4ill\u00e4 toimenpiteill\u00e4 oli suuri merkitys suomalaisten torjuntavoiton kannalta, vaikka niiden vaikutus n\u00e4kyikin p\u00e4\u00e4osin sen j\u00e4lkeen, kun suomalaisten puolustus jo kesti.<\/p>\n<p>Tasavallan presidentti Risto Ryti erosi 1.8.1944, jotta h\u00e4nen tekem\u00e4ns\u00e4 sopimus raukeaisi ja rauhanneuvottelut voisivat alkaa. H\u00e4n oli tehnyt kes\u00e4ll\u00e4 1944 Suomen hyv\u00e4ksi todellisen valtiomiesteon. Suomen marsalkka Mannerheim valittiin poikkeuslailla 5.8.1944 Tasavallan presidentiksi. Rauhanneuvottelut aloitettiin ja ne johtivat verrattain nopeasti tulokseen.
